Hello, my name is Sean Rasmussen.

I am a Senior Developer with over 12 years of professional experience, six of the most recent being dedicated almost exclusively to JEE including the Spring Framework; I'm quite comfortable with typical tools such as Hibernate.

I am currently living in Nova Scotia, working remotely for a Montreal company, with whom I'm worked for over 14 months.

I will be returning to Montreal, to live, in early July; I'll be visiting during the week of May 12th, to take interviews.

Most of my past 10 years have been spent as a contractor - both in Canada, and overseas - but I am open to permanent positions if the working environment is suitable.

I am especially interested in an Agile-based environment.

Free Labour Offered

As I'm resigned to being unemployed for the better part of May and the entire June, I was starting to look at 4-week immersion programs; as I'll moving back to Montreal indefinitely, I'm impatient to make myself capable of working in French.

But then I thought - if my intention is to have an immersive situation to prepare myself for eventually working in French, then why not offer my services for free for - say - 4 weeks. I'd be without work anyways, and no immersion program could be more relevant than actually working in my field.

I'd favour Quebec City over Montreal because it will be far less tempting to switch into English (for all parties) and for the sheer novelty of it.

So, if you can offer a friendly environment to someone who is eager to become bilingual but is currently shy about it, then I'd like to hear your proposal.

I recently took my first TFI (Test français international) in September and received a mark of 830 / 990. This score is within the rank of 'Working Proficiency in French'; I'd be willing to speak with you on the phone, in french, in order for you to get a better sense of my ability. I have yet to work in French, but am looking forward to the opportunity.

Incidentally, I'm learning Erlang in my spare time, and am about to release a web application written entirely in Erlang.
